Description: The dry, arid desert environment of the Sierra desert is home to the american wild camel. American Wild Camel
The dry, arid desert environment of the Seirra desert is home to the american
wild camel. This harsh and unforgiving terrain is known for its exceedingly
high temperatures, lack of water, and vast empty expanses of sand, broken only
by the occasional stretch of road or a small town. Camels are well-adapted to
the harsh conditions of their desert habitat and prefer it above all others.
Camels that arer found in the wild, are fron North Africa that were brought to
the USA. A few ascaped and made there home in the seirra desert. They are
commonly referred to as "the ships of the desert" by the native peoples of
North Africa who use them as beasts of burden.
