Description: The paca (Agouti paca) is a large rodent native to the torpical portion of the Americas. The paca's fur is brown with up to four rows of horizontal white spots. The belly fur is white. These animals are solitary and nocturnal. They prefer to live near swiftly-flowing streams. Pacas are frequently preyed upon by large predators such as the jaguar and often swim to escape from danger.
