Updated: November 24, 2025 by Jay to change the animation for when the animal is idle in water to not be standing on the water, to make minor changes to the English animal info, to add German for those with German ZT since the translation was available in another version, to link to ZT's sounds instead of copies, to add all of the configuration needed to allow it to swim on water terrain, to change the main habitat to Deciduous Forest to match the tooltip and main terrain, to change the location to North America to match the animal info, to show the preferred object tooltip for females and young, to not have the young jump since there is no young jumping animation, to have the animal be indifferent to itself and other canines so that it is not happy when there are too many animals in the exhibit, to play sounds when the animal is picked up and put down, to increase the opportunities for ZT to see if the animal was hit by a tranquilizer dart, to play sounds at times when it was not playing sounds but should have, and to remove unnecessary files and configuration lines.

Red Wolf
Created by Martijn Aikema
Former Webmaster of Zoo Tycoon Unlimited
As a species, the red wolf (Canis rufus) is lucky to be alive! Originally it
ranged throughout much of the eastern United States, from as far north as
Pennsylvania and New York to as far west as Texas. Things started to go
drastically wrong for the red wolf in the early 20th Century. Predator control
programs took heavy tolls on both the red wolf and its close relative, the
gray wolf. But through a captive breeding program the animal is saved.
