Description: There are two species of dolphin found up the Amazon River and its tributaries: the larger Botu and the smaller Tucuxi. The Botu (aka; boutus and boto) is the largest of the world's five river dolphin species. In creating the Botu, we have chosen the legend of the dolphin turning into a beautiful woman, although descriptions and stories vary from tribe to tribe all along the Amazon River.
