Description: The Geoffroy's cat is named after Geoffrey st Hilaire, a 19th century naturalist. Found in South America this small cat is one of the most southerly wild cats. The coloration can vary in this cat, as in many wild cats. Mostly nocturnal, they hunt birds and small mammals. Although considered ground dwellers, they have been found sleeping, mating and defecating in trees. They are relatively common.
