Some of you may have noticed that there has been a database error when you try to go to Zookeeper's Lounge. I heard from the site owner today:
QuoteI have been looking into this. Apparently my webhost is in the process of upgrading my server. I don't have an ETA for the problem, but I will work with my web host to fix it.
Oh good - I'm glad it hasn't died permanently.
What on earth an ETA has to do with it, I never know LOL I hope they sort it out.
Let us know when you know more.
:giggle ETA = estimated time of arrival. Over here it is a brand of potato crisps and also a peanut butter. :giggle
You mean I can have an eta on an eta?? :rofl :rofl
:rofl :rofl :rofl :crazy :crazy :giggle
Jay...those must be local brands down by you...don't have those up here...

Jay is in Florida. Eta is a well known brand in New Zealand and Australia. They do snack foods http://www.eta.co.nz/products
I see Grahams/Graemes Crackers mentioned a lot in US recipes and sit there and go what are they. We do not have them here. There are lots of things we have and you don't and vice versa.
Smores!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
or snores??? :sleepy :sleepy :sleepy

Smores!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
We don't have them either. Or at least not with that name.
Smores = square of graham cracker...piece of chocolate...toasted marshmellow (done over a campfire is best!)...topped with another square of graham cracker...kind of squished together and eaten...MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
As far as I know they have to be made...not purchased...
Oh No!! You can buy smores almost anywhere. But making them, that's the fun!!!!! :clap2 :smile1
Here is an update on Zookeeper's Lounge. The initial problem was caused by the web host wanting to get rid of the server that Zookeeper's Lounge was on, being that it is an older server. So they moved the files to a newer server (I believe), but did not move the database, and they did not properly notify the site owner. When the site owner talked to them and said what the site was used for (downloads and information), the web host decided that the site should be on a faster server. So they provided a faster server and the site owner has copied all of the files over to that faster server. Now we need to have the web host increase the limits on that server (which should not be a problem, although we do not know when it will done) and we need to restore the database to this latest server. We have not decided yet whether we will use a copy of the database that the web host gets for us (which should be up-to-date, but could take time to get) or we will use a backup of the database we have from August 31, knowing that it is not up-to-date, but close. We will continue to keep you informed of our progress. Of course, we do this in our free time and Real Life will continue to have priority. So we thank you for your continued patience.
If you need help moving the database and files, my uncle sidney has a moving van....for rent! :giggle
To recap Jay: v=9/10 squared over pie times sin 7040 divided by cosin 4. :rofl :rofl
thanks for the information jay. i'm sooo glad it will come back and probably improved...
Yeah I am happy that in the end this will turn out to be for the better
Zookeeper's Lounge is back online. The newer server, which the web host provided, is using very recent versions of some software. Unfortunately, some of those newer versions are not completely compatible with the older versions. So we had to figure out where and how to change the forum software to work, which is now done, but took a while. We also used the backup of the database from August 31. So that means posts that were more recent than that were lost. But it will be close. Once again, thank you for your patience.
:fireworks :fireworks :throw :throw :praise2 :wub2
:fireworks :pompoms wonderful news :pompoms :fireworks
great reward for you Jay :throw :hugs1
On March 23, the web host company used by Zookeeper's Lounge updated their web server software and database server software. Unfortunately, like what happened in 2010, it appears those newer versions are not completely compatible with the older versions. So it appears we have to figure out where and how to change the forum software to make it work with these newer versions. At this time, we do not know how long that will take. Most likely, it will take a long time, like it did in 2010. The database and downloads exist. But you will only get a blank screen if you go to Zookeeper's Lounge.
oh dear ((((hugs))))
Zookeeper's Lounge is back online. Instead of figuring out where and how to change the forum software to make it work with the web host's updated software, we decided to switch to different forum software. Hopefully that will make it easier to deal with future web host updates. Since it is different forum software, it has a different look and works differently for some things. But the posts, downloads, login information, and personal messages are there. We also enabled registration for new members. Thank you for your patience.
well done and thanks! I'm glad new user registration is enabled :fireworks
Thank you for the update Jay! And so lucky to keep all of the hard work that has been done over the years.
The web host company used by Zookeeper's Lounge updated their web server software and database server software. Unfortunately, like what happened previously, it appears those newer versions are not completely compatible with the older versions. So it appears we have to update the forum software to make it work with these newer versions. At this time, we do not know how long that will take. It might take a long time, like it did previously. The database and downloads exist. But you will only get a "General Error" screen if you go to Zookeeper's Lounge. It will be announced here when Zookeeper's Lounge is working again.
Did you know that we can use Wayback Machine to get access to Zookeeper Lounge?
The Zookeeper's Lounge forum will be coming back. And when it does, a number of the older downloads will be updated as well.
The forum software at Zookeeper's Lounge (ZKL) has been updated and the ZKL forum is now working again. Except for some options moving to menus, ZKL looks as it did in July. While the forum was not working, a number of the older downloads were updated, but those updates have not been uploaded yet. New posts will be created at ZKL when those updates are uploaded. Thank you for your patience.
I'm happy for you Jay, that ZL is back. Know you did a lot of work!
I'll have to find my ZL password, so I can walk down the halls again!
Do not need a password for ZKL unless you want to post.
