Description: The Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena) is in many way distinct from its spotted sub-Saharan cousin (The Spotted Hyena).The Striped Hyena is a small, nomadic animal. Though the Striped Hyena does associate in family-like groups, it normally hunts alone for small prey. The spotted hyena's famous laugh is absent in the striped hyena. These animals provide interest to any zoo.
