Title: Bridges over stationary water.
Post by: johnrn1 on April 08, 2013, 02:30:07 AM
Well, here's another stupid question from you know who!! How does a person build a bridge over water that can't be moved or changed in any way, and without any uci's?  :crazy  :help1

I used a path and the post-n-rope fence.  I hope that will be acceptable ... it really isn't changing the terrain or moving the water ... it's just enhancing it with a make-shift bridge lol.   :rofl

I always feel there is no such thing as a stupid question.

The Zoo Entrances, Admission Booths, and Zoo Walls that go around the zoo have "cDeletable = 0" in the [Characteristics/Integers] section of their configuration. That prevents them from being deleted. In order to stop people from accidentally putting those things in their zoos without being able to delete them, those things are not in the usual purchase menus. Instead, they are in something called the Developer Menu. Similar configuration could be done for user made objects, such as bridges or tunnels. But it does require configuration. There is no option while playing ZT that allows locking something in place.

Use the wooden bridge pack, or the pontoon bridge with the wood bridge pack entrances. I know they are uci's but that is one way.

could you do it on a map thing like caddie makes?  i.e. could you put that item into the developer menu so that it could be put on the zoo like an entrance and then the user would simply see a zoo with it in?  of course the uci would have to be downloaded by the user and put in the correct folder before the zoo is opened...  and i expect some special config would be needed somewhere along the line...  is that what you mean jay?

That's funny and good Cricket.  :rofl  So, the path you use just goes over the Nile river (Tek contest of course), it doesn't delete the water!!  :giggle  :clap2

Jay, thanks for driving me further into the minds of genius!! I'm lost and will take your word for it!!  :giggle Actually, I really think I understand what you are saying. Now there's a first...or second.  :poke

Fern, I saw the uci bridges in the purchase menu, but they couldn't be used without altering or deleting the Nile river. That's what I meant when I asked about using the uci bridges. The river would have to be deleted for the bridge to be made. I will download the wooden bridge pack as I can't remember what was in it. Also, that pack doesn't allow for building over water without changing the water terrain does it?

Rick, now you lost me!!  :crazy :giggle Which is not hard to do!!  :rofl

Yes, that is what I meant. But, as it turns out, I was answering a different question. I thought the question was a generic question, but it is actually about the wording used for a contest at Phoenix. So the question needs to be asked at Phoenix. My understanding is that the contest rules say that the river in the map used for the contest may not be changed, but bridges are allowed. There are 2 types of user made bridges. One type has entrances that are configured as buildings and will transport guests a certain distance. Going with those entrances are scenery pieces that look like bridges and those scenery pieces are configured to be allowed on water. The other type of bridge uses a path. Paths will change any water terrain beneath the path to grass terrain. Some of the path type of bridges have scenery pieces that go next to the path in order to make it look like a bridge. Some of these scenery pieces might not allow being placed on water. Only the person who created the contest can answer if paths are acceptable for bridges in the contest. Similarly, only the person who created the contest can say if it is acceptable to change the water terrain to accommodate bridge scenery.
