Description: The Black Footed Cat is the smallest cat in the world, from 50-63cm long, a shoulder height of 25cm, and a weight of 1.2kg for females and 1.6-2.1 kg for males. In South Africa it is known as the miershooptier, which translates to anthill tiger.
The Black Footed Cat is brownish and boldly patterned with black oblong spots, with legs barred with thick black stripes. The undersides of its feet are black. It lives in arid areas of southern Africa, as far north as Namibia.
