Description: The Black-backed jackal, sometimes called the Saddle-backed or Silver-backed jackal is a mammal allied to the Wolves.  Its scientific name is Canis mesomelas and it is in the family Carnivora. Black-backed jackals currently have a rather odd distribution.  They are found only within the continent of Africa, two areas about 900 kilometers (550 miles) apart. The southerly population inhabits South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe. The more northerly population is found in Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia, on the East coast of the continent.

I wish all Peace, Love, Good Health, and Laughter
