Description: The Mexican king snake (Lampropeltis mexicana mexicana) thrives in the deserts all across Mexico, but is very adaptable to other climates as well, and so is valued as a pet. The Mexican king snake grows to about a meter long in captivity, and in the wild sometimes even up to four and a half feet! It is one of the longest members of the king snake/milksnake family that resides in North America, and manages to hold its own in the wild, even against the fast-moving, quick striking rattlesnake. In your zoo, make sure to give it a nice desert habitat and a water source, and it will be happy forever.
