Brazilian Tapir

The Brazilian Tapir (Tapirus terrestris) is the most common of the four tapir
species. It comes from the rainforests of South America, where its only
natural predators are Man and occasionally Jaguars. It is able to use its
flexible snout as a snorkel to escape into water if threatened. The snout also
contains enlarged nostrils, giving an acute sense of smell. Tapirs are
odd-toed ungulates, meaning that their closest relatives are rhinos and
horses.
