Sinraptor

The Late Jurassic of China probably rivaled that of the Western United States
for diversity of dinosaur species.  While America had the sauropods
Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, and Brachiosaurus, China featured Mamenchisaurus.
Stegosaurus thrived in America, while Tuojiangosaurus and Wuerhosaurus lived
in China.  And in addition to giant plant-eaters, as might be expected, both
had their fair share of large predators.  China's answer to the American
Allosaurus were close relatives including Sinraptor dongi, or 'Chinese
raider.'  Sinraptor did not grow to quite the same length of Allosaurus,
reaching 22 feet in length.  Only recently discovered in 1994 by theropod
expert Phillip Currie, Sinraptor shows characteristics with other Chinese
predators such as Yangchuanosaurus, Gasosaurus, and Monolophosaurus.  The type
species, S. dongi, is known from a nealry complete skeleton, while another
species, Sinraptor hepingensis, is known from skull, scapula, vertebrae, and
hip rem
