Dwarf Elephant

Remains of dwarfed proboscideans have been discovered on islands in the
Mediterranean Sea, in the Artic Ocean off the coast of Russian and in the
Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. In the Mediterranean, several
species of fossil dwarf elephants have been found on the islands of Sicily,
Malta, Sardinia, Crete and Cyprus. These dwarf elephants lived on these
islands during the Pleistocene or Ice Age and are now extinct.
