Wolverine

The wolverine is a rare animal that lives in deciduous forests in the Arctic
and sub-Arctic region. It preys on small mammals or scavenges on the kills of
others.
                                                                          The
wolverine is the fiercest member of the weasel family. Its thick, dense coat
of brown fur protects it from the hostile climate. A solitary animal, the
wolverine will defend its territory against any other wolverine that dares to
enroach on its space. The wolverine warns others of its presence by
discharching a strong smelling fluid called 'musk' from an anal gland under
its tail. The wolverine has a highly developed sense of smell, which makes it
an excellent scavenger. It is also a good climber, so choose your fencing
wisely. Because its range is so large, the wolverine does not have a single
den site, but several, scattered throughout its range.

                                                                           In
breeding season, wolverines call a truce, and the female will find a den site
in a cave, under a rock, or she will dig her own burrow. She produces one
litter every two or three years. Two or three kittens are born each year. They
are born blind and covered in yellowish fur.

                                        The wolverines scientific name means
'glutton' because of the wolverines habit of attacking any prey it comes
across. Although it is not yet an endangered animal, this habit has left many
of its species killed for breaking into campsites or cabins.
