Description: The black rhinoceros is one of the rarest of all perrisodactyls, and a variation of it can be found in Namibia. Home to the rare desert elephant, Namibia is also home to the equally rare desert black rhinoceros. Like the elephant, the taxonomic placement of the rhino is uncertain, as it may be a subspecies distinct of the main race. Desert black rhinos can be found in company of desert elephants and gemsbok, and their temper seems to be more tolerant than that of the common black rhino.
