Description: Sorraia Horses are a remnant population of an indigenous, South Iberian wild horse, which survived almost purely in the inaccessible lowlands of the Portuguese river Sorraia. The Sorraia is now nearly extinct. A few herds are maintained in half a dozen places in Portugal and a few places in Germany. These animals provide interest to any zoo.
