Description: Rhabdodon, or "Fluted Tooth", was one of the last of the iguanodonts. Living in the Late Cretaceous, most of its kin had evolved into hadrosaurs. Like most iguanodonts it has a large thumb-spike on its hand and can rear up on its hind legs. What's different about this animal is the fact that it's shorter than average arms meant it spent a greater amount of time upright than its predecessors. This European herbivore grew to only about half of its famous relative (Iguanodon)'s size because of where it lived. Rhabdodon lived on an island of pygmies, from miniature saltasaurs to micro-sized raptors.

This small dinosaur is not as noticeable as others of it's species to protect it from predators. The various shades of green, thought brilliant and strong out of the forest, provide perfect camouflage for these diminutive herbivores. Rhabdodon's behavior is of a mostly solitary creature but during several generations in captivity this is slowly forgotten. Captive Rhabdodons also are more tolerant then some dinosaurs when conditions are not as favorable. Herds have been known to tolerate foreign foliage and overcrowding much better than most dinosaurs.

During the breeding season, males will turn a fabulous shade of purple to become more noticeable to the females. This only happens when the males are strutting, the change back quite quickly afterward to prevent their activity to be noticed by anything else.

This is an extremely attractive dinosaur in captivity but it does not come without a price. Because of their geological isolation on that tiny island, Rhabdodon is very vulnerable to diseases and its fossils are also very rare so DNA to recreate them is scares. These dinosaurs also have a shorter lifespan than a normal Iguanodon though it is offset by its higher reproductive rate. More information is needed in order to fully understand and accommodate the beautiful creature, but as science progresses, that goal comes ever closer. This dinosaur was created by: ZTDinozaur
