Description: Proganochelys, the earliest known member of the tortoise family, lived in Europe during the Triassic period.
Its body is very similar to that of modern land tortoises, but Proganochelys could not retract its head or legs into its shell.

Proganochelys

Proganochelys, the earliest known member of the tortoise family, lived in
Europe during the Triassic period.  Its body is very similar to that of modern
