Australian Freshwater Crocodile

Johnston's crocodileThe Australian freshwater crocodile (Crocodylus
johnstoni),  also referred to as "Freshie" or Johnston's crocodile, is a
relatively small crocodile which inhabits permanent freshwater areas such as
lakes, billabongs, swamps, and less saline upstream areas of river systems and
creeks throughout northern Australia (Northern Territory, Queensland and
Western Australia). It is generally not found near the coast, where the high
salinity and competition with the larger saltwater crocodile makes the habitat
far less hospitable.
