The ring-necked parakeet (Psittacula krameri) [also known as the rose-ringed
parakeet] is a green parakeet native to the tropical forests of India and
Africa.  Both sexes have similar plumage, but the males have a distinctive
ring around the back of their necks.  Many color variations are found in
captive-bred populations.
