Description: Titanosaurus ("Titanic Lizard") was the first found of a distinct group of sauropods, the Titanosauria. This group of sauropods lasted from the late Jurassic to the late Cretaceous periods and seems to be indigenous to the southern hemisphere.
Titanosaurus looked similar to the Diplodocidae, having both a long neck and a whip-like tail. However, the skin on its back was studded with small bony plates called osteoderms.
