Egyptian Jackal

The Egyptian Jackal (Canis aureus lupaster) is also known as the Egyptian
Wolf, or dib and is a nocturnal, critically endangered subspecies of Golden
Jackal found locally in northern Egypt and northeastern Libya. This subspecies
has been mistaken for the Grey Wolf. They were once flourishing throughout
Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula, but hunting has drastically reduced their
numbers.
