Description: The Barbary Jackal, Atlas Jackal or Algerian Jackal is found in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, centered around the Atlas Mountains that run across the North Eastern part of Africa.  Its scientific name is Canis aureus algirensis.  This Jackal has large, fox-like ears and a lupine (wolf-like) face, pale golden fur with a slight reddish tint. Golden Jackals living in North Africa tend to be larger and have longer carnassial teeth than those living in the Middle East.  Barbary Golden Jackals are paler and have more pointed snouts than Egyptian Golden Jackals, and have longer hair, reflecting the varied terrain that they inhabit.

Barbary Jackals are found in an extraordinary range of habitats.  Around the Atlas Mountains is desert or semi-desert and Barbary Jackals are found here.

I wish all Peace, Love, Good Health, and Laughter
