The site this was hosted on no longer exists except on the "wayback machine" archive site. So it was decided a long time ago that if the site vanished we would post the info here. The listing for these scenarios is here: http://www.ztcdd.org/DD/index.php?topic=3189.0

A Journey Through Time

New 7 scenario pack from Pixigger

- The Dawn Of Time
- The Ice Age
- Early Zoos Around The World
- African Exploitation
- Modern Under Threat
- Rising Sea Levels
- Global Meltdown

Very special thanks to Wayne Osborn (aka dnar) from Perth, Australia for the excellent pics used in the Scenario Pack (except Africa Exploitation). You can view more of Wayne's work (or these pics at much bigger resolution!) at his site http://dnaresearch.com.au *

JTT - The Dawn Of Time

It was a beautiful day - the sun was shining, birds singing in the trees - some small rodents scurrying around in the undergrowth. This was the entrance to your local zoo but suddenly you noticed something shimmering in the distance. What could it be? As you approach you realise it seems to be a building but no matter which direction you look at it from it appears to look the same - how is that possible? You then notice a faint humming sound in the air and your curiosity gets the better of you - you must approach.

In an instant the world around you has changed. The small rodents have all disappeared; the birds seem to be screeching at you in an almost reptilian way. The sun is still shining but even the trees themselves appear strange. There is a pathway ahead so you decide to follow it, up and over a large hill. As you reach the crest you notice the strange humming building again, over to your right, but an even stranger building to your left beyond which you can see some fencing surrounding...no...cannot be! Dinosaur eggs!

Your mind reeling, you stagger closer and notice some small scratches in the ground that seem to say:

Welcome to the Dawn of Time!

JTT - The Ice Age

With the expertise you have shown in the care of the Dinosaurs from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Eras, it seems to you that some sort of controlling force is directing your destiny. The time portal has opened again and this time you find yourself in a largely snow-covered world, shivering in both fear and due to the climate.

Okay, calm yourself down - you've coped with Dinos after all - what could be worse than that?

Lumbering over a snow-covered peak towards is a large hairy creature - a Yeti!

And then it dawns on you that you have been transported to the Ice Age this time and you wonder what challenges you will be expected to meet this time...

JTT - Early Zoos Around The World

You hear the hum of the Time Machine fading away as you start the next challenge.

What a relief that it is much warmer than the Ice Age and you can finally stop shivering long enough to be able to concentrate on your surroundings again.

It appears that someone has done some preparation work before you arrived as there are several areas which clearly seem to be the beginnings of what could be considered to be zoo exhibits! But there are no animals - how can you have zoos without animals?

Fortunately a messenger is on hand and informs you that several leaders from different parts of the world have given instruction that they will provide animals for this zoo if you build one of their standing enclosures for the guests. It takes you a moment to realise that the "standing enclosures" are the Observation Areas and you decide to make a list so you do not forget:

The Emperor of the Far East would like you to build a standing enclosure made from Rock;

The President of the North Americas would like you to build one made from Wood;

The President of the South Americas would like one made from Stick Poles;

The Pharaoh of the World Deserts thinks nothing but a Metal one will do;

and the Emperor of Southeast Asia will not send animals unless you build a Concrete standing enclosure.

When one (or all) of these 'standing enclosures' have been built then your foundling zoo will start to receive animals. It is entirely up to you which ones you build first and whether or not you deal with each one individually or all together.

You feel quite excited at the prospect of all these animals and for the first time since Prehistory you feel that you are being given a great opportunity to build one of the world's Earliest Zoos.

JTT - African Exploitation

With hardly any time to take a breath you find yourself again transported through time and suddenly everything looks familiar again! The sun is shining, birds are singing in the trees and small rodents are scurrying around in the undergrowth.

Wait a minute - since when was there Savannah Grass at your local zoo? And what is that boat ride ahead of you? You must find out more and decide to find out more from the Boat Shack ahead of you.

Several minutes later things seem much clearer. You haven't quite managed to get back to your own time just yet and are in the late 19th Century just south of the Continent of Africa. Your arrival has caused quite a stir! By all accounts, the last ship carrying a number of poachers has just departed containing the last of the adult animals for zoos or more nefarious purposes (you shudder at the thought of what they might be!). So the only animals remaining are the babies!

Once your anger subsides you realise the opportunity that this presents you with - to repopulate the continent of Africa using the babies that are left! Filled with hope and determination you set off to reverse the awful exploitation that has occurred here.

Rumour has it that the philanthropist Loewenfrau has expressed some interest in the suitable care for the Lion species, possibly with some sort of reward if you achieve it.

JTT - Modern Under Threat

The sun is shining, birds are singing, rodents are scurrying. Finally you are back in your own time!

Is this the end of your journey, you find yourself wondering. But no, there is still work to be done. Even after your success in Africa, the idea of conservation still seems to be an alien concept to many of the world's leaders and you find yourself in another zoo area where the World Endangered Treaty organisation (WET) contacts you with a specific mission.

You must establish an effective breeding colony of some of the world's most endangered species and WET will only provide more animals as the programme shows signs of success.

Starting funds are limited and the challenge is great but you know that you are up to the challenge!

JTT - Rising Sea Levels

You are confused to realise that your Journey Through Time is not yet complete as once again you have been propelled through time, even though the last challenge was from your own time.

So where, or more correctly, when are you now? You look around and discover that although some of the terrain looks familiar that much of it is now underwater! Could this be the result of Global Warming melting the Polar Ice Caps and raising the Sea level? It seems that it must be and you realise that you have travelled into the future this time.

WET (World Endangered Treaty organisation) is now just a memory and there is a new world government - the Overall World Executive (OWE). One of their officials visits you and informs you that with the loss of many industries due to them now being underwater, a marine based zoo is now one of the biggest businesses in the world.

There is therefore the need to establish both a successful zoo for the animals therein and also a profitable zoo for the future of the World Economy, using specialised Shows whenever possible.

As you record more and more fee-paying guests into the zoo then more marine animals will be made available to you.

Oh well, after Dinosaurs, animals from Legends, African babies and Endangered Species, this shouldn't be too difficult, right?

JTT - Global Meltdown

Another hum from the Time Machine and once again you are hurtling along the space-time continuum to a new destination.

As your previous Journey was to a future period you assume that you have travelled even further forward through time and this appears to be borne out by you emerging from the time eddy into water!

OWE (Overall World Executive) is still the governing body and it appears that in spite of the warning of Rising Sea Levels they paid more attention to financing themselves than to addressing the problem. The Polar Ice Caps have almost completely melted away and only the tallest areas of the world remain above the new sea-level. This really is a Global Meltdown of catastrophic proportions.

With a huge sigh you examine your surroundings to determine what challenge awaits you here and realise that not only have you travelled through time but also through space and you are at what remains of the Poles. Some of the Polar animals are running loose and need to be captured for their own protection and to stop them eating each other!

OWE demands that you must build a zoo that has a huge net worth just so they can continue to finance themselves and although the temptation is there just to let them become as extinct as the land masses your natural desire to protect and care for the animals overrides this.

Could this be the last Journey?
